KHHS flag football team loses 34-6 to Ocala Forest

Keystone Heights High School fell to 4-5 in flag football after a 34-6 loss to visiting Forest on March 11.

Alee Horton completed 7 of 21 passes for 142 yards, with Riley Shuford catching two passes for 65 yards.

Aubre Miller had two receptions for 35 yards, while Ashley McCarthy had two for 32 yards.

Alex Papaiannou caught one pass for 20 yards.

Miller was the leading rusher with just one carry, which went for 35 yards.

The defense got four tackles each from McCarthy, Ashlyn Brown and Melanie Crabtree.

The Indians went 1-1 in their two previous games, with the loss coming against visiting Middleburg by a score of 14-7 on March 6.

Horton completed 15 of 24 passes for 228 yards and a touchdown, while also rushing for 77 yards on eight carries.

Miller caught the scoring pass and finished with five receptions for 68 yards.

Brown caught four passes for 75 yards, while Papaiannou had four receptions for 47 yards.

Alyssa Sanford led the defense with four tackles.

Keystone defeated visiting Oakleaf 20-13 on March 10, getting three touchdown passes from Horton, who completed 10 of 22 passes.

Miller caught two of the scoring passes and finished with four receptions for 23 yards.

Brown caught four passes for 103 yards and one touchdown.

Horton rushed for 63 yards on 11 carries.

McCarthy and Tatum Hall led the defense with three tackles each.

The Indians host Suwannee on Thursday, March 13, at 6 p.m. and will return to action on Tuesday, March 25, when they travel to play Palatka at 6 p.m.
