Keystone Heights High School saw its string of consecutive championships end at six in a row, but the Indians will still advance to regional play after finishing as the District 3-1A girls golf runner-up on Oct. 26 at Quail Heights Country Club in Lake City.
The Indians had a team score of 454 to finish five strokes behind Branford.
Branford and Keystone were the only full teams participating, so both will advance to the Region 1 finals on Tuesday, Nov. 2, at 9 a.m. at St. Johns Golf and Country Club in St. Augustine.
As the lone participant not on either Branford or Keystone, Bradford’s Cassidy Spratlin earned the right to advance to regional play as well.
Jackson topped the field with an 18-hole score of 78, which was five strokes better than her third-place score at last year’s district match. She had a birdie and made par on 11 holes to finish 11 strokes ahead of Branford’s Gabby Saavedra.
Keystone’s M.J. Rivera and Spratlin finished tied for fourth, with each shooting a 105. Rivera, who was seventh at last year’s district match, made par on three holes, while Spratlin made par on one.
Mia Rivera and Rexi Lewis placed eighth and ninth, respectively, for the Indians with scores of 132 and 139. Lewis made par on one hole.
