KHHS girls reach district semifinals with big win

Ella Hutchins and Kiersten Shaw combined to score nine goals for the Keystone Heights High School girls soccer team, which had no trouble advancing in the District 4-3A tournament with an 11-0 win over seventh seed Interlachen on Jan. 27 at P.K. Yonge.

Shaw scored five goals and had one assist, while Hutchins had four goals and two assists.

The Indians, who are the tournament’s second seed, also got one goal each from Kendall Gagnon and Madeline Sweezy.

Sweezy also had one assist, as did Tinleigh Gubics.

Interlachen didn’t pose much of a scoring threat, but Keystone goalkeeper Aspen Krohn did make one save.

Keystone will play third seed Williston or sixth seed Fort White in a semifinal game on Tuesday, Jan. 31, at 5 p.m.

Top seed P.K. Yonge will play fourth seed Newberry or fifth seed Trinity Catholic in the other semifinal at 7 p.m.

The championship match is Thursday, Feb. 2, at 7 p.m.

All tournament games will be played at P.K. Yonge.
