KHHS girls soccer team takes 3-2 win over Santa Fe

Keystone Heights High School recorded its first win over Santa Fe in 11 tries as the Indians got two goals from Kiersten Shaw in a 3-2 road win on Dec. 16.

Shaw, who’s second in the state with a total of 41 goals, also recorded an assist, which led to a goal by Ella Hutchins.

Goalkeeper Miranda Yow made seven saves.

It was the Indians’ first win against the Raiders since beating them 5-4 for a district championship in 2012-13. Santa Fe had defeated Keystone 10 straight times since then, outscoring the Indians 61-4 during that span.

Keystone (10-4) entered the match off a 6-1 District 4-3A win over host Williston on Dec. 13. Shaw scored four goals and had an assist, while Hutchins had one goal and two assists.

Hutchins has 15 assists for the season, which ranks sixth best in the state.

The win also included a goal and an assist from Elizabeth Waughon and one assist by Alee Horton.

Keystone is 3-0 against district opponents.

The Indians return to action with a home match against Suwannee on Tuesday, Jan. 3, at 7 p.m. Keystone also plays home matches against Menendez on Thursday, Jan. 5, at 7:20 p.m., Williston on Friday, Jan. 6, at 5:30 p.m. and district opponent Fort White on Tuesday, Jan. 10, at 5:30 p.m.
