KHHS girls soccer team to 1st-round playoff match

Despite being the eighth and final seed in the Region 1-3A playoffs, the Keystone Heights High School girls soccer team will host a quarterfinal match against South Walton on Monday, Feb. 2, at 7 p.m.

The Indians (8-11-3) host a South Walton team that is ranked seventh in Class 3A. The Seahawks (10-4) are coming off a 2-0 loss to 11th-ranked Pensacola in the District 1 championship match.

If Keystone wins, it will travel to play either fourth seed Fernandina Beach (12-2-4) or fifth seed Bolles (8-9-4) in a semifinal match on Monday, Feb. 9, at 7 p.m.

This is the Indians’ fourth time qualifying for the regional playoffs in six years. Keystone, which has an all-time postseason record of 4-16, is looking to win its first regional playoff match since 2013.

South Walton in in the regional playoffs for the ninth straight year. The Seahawks, who reached the state semifinals the last two years, have a postseason record of 17-12.
