Caleb Moncrief took first in the discus and was third in the shot put, while Kendall Gagnon and Kiersten Shaw combined for five top-five finishes for Keystone Heights High School at the April 7 Clay County Track and Field Championships at Orange Park High School.
Moncrief’s best throw in the discus covered 149 feet, which put him 3.5 feet ahead of Middleburg’s Wyatt Underwood.
In the shot put, Moncrief had a distance of 44-9.5.
Gagnon and Shaw each earned a third-place finish for the girls team: Gagnon in the javelin with a distance of 73-8 and Shaw in the high jump with a height of 4-11.75.
Shaw also earned fifth-place finishes in the 100m hurdles (18.07) and long jump (15-5), while Gagnon took fifth in the discus (88-3).
Ella Hutchins recorded a seventh-place finish for the girls team, running the 400m in 1:09, while Dallas Decrosta ran an eighth-place time of 2:53 in the 800m.
The girls team also had the following results: 200m — Hutchins 13th 29.87, Brianna Hogan 17th 31.83, Candace Jackson 18th 31.84, Elizabeth Hogan 21st 35.18; 400m — Elizabeth Hogan 13th 1:20, Charlotte Natirboff 15th 1:23; 800m — Rebecca Lasca 13th 3:09, Shaylyn Williams 15th 3:31; shot put — Kinslee Burnaw 24th 19-9.75; and discus — Burnaw 21st 44-3.
Shepherd Rozier earned an eighth-place finish for the boys team with a time of 56.26 in the 400m. He was also 10th in the 200m (24.69).
Ayden Graff placed ninth in the 3200m (12:15), while Tyler Griffin was 10th in the 800m (2:15).
Other boys results were: 200m — Jaden Park 17th 26.23, Tristan Dukes 19th 31.55; 400m — Josiah Durrenberger 14th 1:00, Dukes 18th 1:12; 800m — Garrett Roberson 18th 2:37; 1600m — Park 16th 5:42.35, Roberson 17th 5:42.67, Jacob Stahman 19th 6:03; long jump — Rozier 12th 17-7.5, Park 13th 17-2.75; shot put — Tyler Duncan 28th 28-0.25, Jackson Herman 29th 26-2.25; and discus — Duncan 13th 82-10, Herman 25th 62-3.
