Cross-country runners Hunter Gray and Melody Tyre led the Keystone Heights High School boy and girls teams, respectively, as they competed at the 13th annual Florida Horse Park Invitational on Sept. 5 in Ocala.
Gray, competing in a field of 544 runners, placed 183rd with a time of 17:55. Teammates Noah Yara and Ryder Thomas also finished in the top half of the field, with Yara running a 207th-place time of 18:03 and Thomas running a 260th-place time of 18:33.
Also running for the boys team were Trenton Noble (19:37), John Cusack (19:46), Ryeland Wahl (20:31), Jason Parales (21:26) and Alex Mahaffey (22:30).
Tyre ran a time of 21:42, which placed her 116th in the 399-member girls field. Alyssa Sanford had a time of 23:26, while Olivia Griffin and Cali Chamberlain ran times of 27:24 and 27:59, respectively.
Keystone had four runners in the junior varsity boys field, which consisted of 452. Gavin Morford placed 123rd with a time of 20:44. The Indians also got times of 24:28 from Oliver Miller, 28:07 from Sebastian Tolhurst and 30:04 from Lucas Pettee.
The JV girls race had 282 members. Keystone’s Chandler Rosado ran a 120th-place time of 28:05.
Also running for Keystone in the JV girls race were Bailee Morris (31:08) and Clara Beth Robinson (33:27).
