Alaina Kinsall, Ashley Nugent and Abbie Roach each drove in two runs as part of a nine-run first inning, helping the Keystone Heights High School softball team defeat Class 5A Clay 16-1 in four innings on Feb. 27 in Keystone.
Pitcher Caitlin Frampton pitched the entire way, giving up one run, two hits and three walks, while striking out seven.
Roach, who went 4 for 4 with a double and a triple, drove in the Indians’ first two runs of the first on a single. An error allowed a run to score before Riley Shuford and Loralei Booth each drew a bases-loaded walk. Kinsall and Nugent then drove in two runs each, with Nugent hitting a double.
Kinsall and Roach would both hit RBI doubles in later innings. Kinsall finished with four RBI, while Roach had three.
Nugent finished with three RBI, while Amber Wagner went 2 for 4.
Keystone (3-1) travels to play fellow Class 3A school Palatka on Tuesday, March 5, at 7 p.m. and will host 4A Eustis on Thursday, March 7, at 7 p.m.
