KHHS softball team rolls to district title game off 15-0 win

Keystone Heights High School scored 10 runs in the first inning and put the mercy rule into play in just three innings in defeating visiting Interlachen 15-0 in the semifinals of the District 3-3A softball tournament on May 3.

The Indians (16-9) will host the championship game against either second-seed Palatka or third-seed Santa Fe on Thursday, May 5, at 7 p.m. The championship game winner will receive an automatic berth to the regional playoffs, which begin Wednesday, May 11.

Interlachen committed three of its eight errors in the first inning as Keystone scored more than enough runs for pitcher Caitlin Frampton, who gave up no hits and two walks, while striking out four.

Kiley Channell hit a two-run single and drove in a total of three runs in the first inning, which also included a two-run single by Emma Rogel and RBI singles by Madi Mitzel and Abbie Roach.

Channell, Mitzel and Rogel each went 2 for 3. Channell finished with three RBI, while Rogel and Mitzel had two and one, respectively.

Roach and Kinley Carlton each had one RBI.
