KHHS to honor Mattox at Feb. 15 preseason baseball classic

Keystone Heights High School will host the Alan Mattox Preseason Baseball Classic on Tuesday, Feb. 15, honoring the longtime head coach who retired following last season.

Play begins with Clay taking on Palatka at 4 p.m., followed by the Indians, under new Head Coach Chris Roach, taking on Fort White at 7 p.m.

Mattox, who’ll be present, will be honored between the two games.

In 29 seasons at KHHS, Mattox compiled a 466-319 record. He led the Indians to 10 district championships and 17 regional playoff appearances. Keystone advanced to the Final Four three times off regional championships and finished as a state runner-up twice.
