Keystone Heights High School will be the site of the District 5-2A softball tournament, with the second seed Indians (8-15) playing third seed P.K. Yonge (11-12) in a semifinal game on Tuesday, April 29, at 7 p.m.
Top seed Newberry (18-5) and fourth seed Interlachen (6-16) will play prior to that game at 5 p.m.
The championship game will be played on Thursday, May 1, at 7 p.m.
Keystone enters the tournament off a 6-5, eight-inning loss to visiting Ridgeview on April 23.
The Indians’ Bella Cumbo, who batted 2 for 3, scored the first run when she hit a triple in the first inning and was brought home on a Kadence Massey ground out.
Ridgeview hit a two-run homer as part of a three-run third, which also included a run scoring on an error.
Keystone tied it at 3-3 in the bottom of the third. Tayler Buchanan reached on an error and scored on a Cumbo single. Massey and Cadie Bowles each singled as well, with Bowles’ hit driving in a run.
With two outs and no one on in the fourth, Madi Glinski reached on an error for Keystone. She advanced to second on a passed ball before scoring on a Buchanan single.
The Panthers took advantage of a walk, a double and a ground out to tie the score at 4-4 in the fifth.
In the top of the eighth, Ridgeview scored runs on a double and an error.
Keystone got an RBI single from Bailey Amato with two outs in the bottom of the eighth. A ground out to second ended the game.
