Keystone Heights and Union County high schools traveled to Gainesville’s Hawkstone Country Club to play a golf match hosted by Oak Hall, with the Indians finishing as runners-up and the Tigers placing third.
The Indians had a score of 169, finishing 11 strokes behind Oak Hall. Union had a score of 225.
Keystone’s Alex Addington came close to earning medalist honors. His score of 38 left him trailing Oak Hall’s Lucas Katz by one stroke. Addington, who tied for second with Oak Hall’s Tanmay Chandra, made par on every hole but two.
The Indians’ Ty Mitzel shot a 39 to finish tied for fourth with Oak Hall’s Andrew Powell. Mitzel made par on six holes.
Kenneth Guy shot a sixth-place score of 43 for Keystone, making par on five holes. Teammate Nick Binet finished 10th with a score of 49, making par on one hole.
Union’s Caleb Zapp, who made par on two holes, shot an 11th-place score of 51.
The Indians’ Konner Kelly and the Tigers’ Caleb Ripplinger each shot a 52 to finish in a tie for 12th. Each made par on one hole.
Nicholas Williams shot a 58 for Keystone to finish 14th. He made par on one hole.
The Tigers’ Grant Dicks and Tucker Williams tied for 15th with a score of 61. Teammate Eli Elixson placed 17th with a score of 73.
Keystone will travel to play Fleming Island Country Club to play Fleming Island and Middleburg on Monday, Aug. 29, at 3:30 p.m. The Indians will host Trinity Christian on Tuesday, Aug. 30, at 3:30 p.m.
Union will host Chiefland on Monday, Aug. 29, at 4 p.m. and then host Bradford and Lafayette on Tuesday, Aug. 30, at 3:30 p.m.
The Tigers’ home matches are played at Lake City’s Quail Heights Country Club.
