Alaina Kinsal hit three doubles and drove in five runs for the Keystone Heights High School softball team, which defeated host Clay 12-1 in six innings on March 25.

The Indians (4-6) scored the first two runs on Kinsal’s first double, which occurred in a three-run second inning. The hit scored Madi Mitzel and Delia Johnson, who each singled. Kinsal eventually scored on an Emma Rogel single.

Keystone increased its lead with four runs in the third. Ashley Nugent walked, Kinley Carlton was hit by a pitch and Mitzel singled to load the bases. Johnson was hit by a pitch to force a run in before Kinsal cleared the bases with her second double, making the score 7-0.

Mitzel and Kinsal went 4 for 4 and 3 for 4, respectively. Johnson went 2 for 2 with two RBI, while Abbie Roach went 2 for 4.

Carlton, Nugent, Rogel and Caitlin Frampton each had one RBI.

Mitzel earned the win in the circle, giving up six hits and no walks, while striking out five in a complete-game effort.

The Indians entered the game off a 10-4 loss at Oakleaf on March 22.

Keystone trailed 5-1 before scoring three runs in the fourth. Carlton reached on an error, while Nugent and Mitzel each singled, with Mitzel’s hit driving in a run. After Saige Dennis reached on an error, Kinsal ground into a fielder’s choice to score a run. Roach was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to force a run in and make the score 5-4.

That was as close as the Indians would get, though they did load the bases with one out in the sixth. Kinsal and Rogel each singled, while Roach was hit by a pitch. The scoring threat ended with two straight strikeouts.

Kinsal and Rogel went 2 for 3 and 2 for 4, respectively. Kinsal, Mitzel and Roach each had one RBI.
