KEYSTONE HEIGHTS – Krawlin’ for the Fallen, which drew over 2,000 people to the Lake Region last year is returning to the Keystone Heights Airport over Veterans Day weekend.

Off-Road United Foundation, which has sponsored the event for the last six years, said in  a news release that Krawlin’ for the Fallen will feature several activities to honor the nation’s police officers and K-9s who were lost in the line of duty and show support for their families.

“In 2020 we had over 800 jeeps and over 2,000 participants,” the organization said. “This year, Krawl’n For the Fallen kicks off on Friday, Nov. 12 at The Florida International Rally & Motorsport Park with a special event to meet and greet old and new friends. The event continues at The FIRM on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 13-14, with the raising of the Big-Thin-Blue-Line Flag, off-road trails and obstacles, demonstrations, vendors, and family activities throughout the two days.”

The foundation said that over the last six years, it has raised over $500,000 for the families of fallen officers.

Tragedy struck last year’s event when a 51-year-old Miami man was killed after his parachute malfunctioned.

Yuset Hernandez was part of a seven-member skydiving team that was practicing for the off-road charity event.

This year’s Krawlin’ for the Fallen will include a memorial night ride beginning at 9 p.m. on Saturday night.

Off-Road United said survivors will be paired with Jeeps to experience the ride through luminaries, blue lights, flags that honor each fallen officer and K-9 to pay respect to the families.

All Krawl’n For the Fallen activities are open to the general public for a fee of $5 for spectators per day and $80 for off-road vehicles for a weekend pass.
