The Keystone Heights City Council proclaimed Sept. 13 as Lake Area Ministries Day and gave representatives of the organization a key to the city during its September meeting.
In a proclamation read by Mayor Karen Lake, the council said the food bank was established in 1989 and is supported by 22 local churches, in addition to individuals and community groups. Lake added that, on average, before the COVID-19 pandemic, LAM assisted 450 families per month. Now it provides food to around 850 a month.
Lake Area Ministries’ president: Scott Stanland, and its executive director: Tanya Dennis, accepted the key to the city on behalf of the organization.
