Lake Butler FFA wins big in district competition

Union County FFA: (front to back, left to right) Tanner Connell, Nolan Beighley, Will Harden, Laura Park, Perry Johnson, Eli Hendricks, Jace Beilling, Drew Manning, Maegan Beatty, Reagan Robinson, Ella Dicks, Macie Wilson, Kendyl Brannen, Addison Wright, Bailey Varnes, Shayna Durrance, Bayley Staier, Case Denson, Joseph Harris, Peyton Kilgore, JamieLynn Courson, Cane Reddish, Hayden Robinson and Carsyn Dukes.

Maegan Beatty and Ciara Woodall competed in the District events. Ciara competed in the Agriculture Education event and placed 5th in the state.

Lake Butler FFA members from both the Lake Butler Middle School and the Union County High School chapters competed in the District contest back in January 2022.

There were multiple teams and individuals that placed first in their contest and will be moving on to compete at the state competition.

These teams included: high school and middle school Parliamentary Procedure Teams, Tractor Driving (Will Harden), and Prepared Public Speaking (Laura Park). Also competing were high school Extemporaneous Public Speaking (Maegan Beatty) and middle school Opening and Closing Ceremonies team, both placing second in their respective contests. Peyton Kilgore also represented the Middle School chapter in the Prepared Public Speaking contest and placed 3rd overall.
