
A Union County crowd gathered Monday at the Lake Butler Masonic Lodge for the 2026 Memorial Day Ceremony, where American Legion Post 153 Adjutant Brian Reagan delivered a keynote address that linked the sacrifices of generations of fallen American service members to the nation’s coming 250th anniversary.
Post 153 Commander Mitch Bishop thanked the Lake Butler Woman’s Club, which provided refreshments and handed out flags and programs; Scouting America Troop and Pack 140; the Lake Butler Masonic Lodge, which hosted the event; the Lake Butler Church of Christ, which donated chairs; the Union County High School JROTC; and the Union County Sheriff’s Office. He singled out Sgt. Andrews of the sheriff’s office, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, for directing traffic and providing security.
