Lake Butler Middle School’s Rachel Harris won two events, while the Tigers earned five second-place finishes in opening the track and field season with a Feb. 27 meet in Palatka.
Harris crossed the line first in the 800m with a time of 3:12, while also running the day’s best time in the 1600m at 6:59.
The girls team had two runners-up, including the 4x100m relay team, which consisted of Harris, Ivy Wilson, Hayden Robinson and Makenzie Barry. The foursome ran a time of 1:02.
Melinda Mabrey took second in the shot put with a distance of 7.22 meters. The Tigers also had the event’s third- and fourth-place finishers: Jayde Miller, who had a distance of 5.1, and Sommer McKenzie, who had a distance of 4.57.
Wilson earned third place in the long jump with a distance of 3.66, while Barry was sixth at 3.4.
Robinson took fifth in both the 100m (14.87) and 400m (1:21).
Wilson was fifth in the 200m with a time of 32.97, followed by Robinson in sixth (33.54) and McKenzie in seventh (35.51).
Lake Butler had the sixth- through ninth-place finishers in the 100m: Wilson (14.89), Elauna Roberts (16.06), Barry (16.21) and Maddison McKenzie (16.6).
The boys team got two second-place finishes from Braylen Tyson, who ran the 100m in 12.89 and the 400m in 1:02.
Damon Ferrer was runner-up in the 200m with a time of 28.44.
Ferrer was also third in the 400m with a time of 1:08.
Zaden Williams placed third in two events, with times of 14.57 and 2:42 in the 100m and 800m.
