Lions get 2 wins on homecoming

Hope Christian Academy’s homecoming festivities included the boys and girls basketball teams both defeating Gainesville Christian Community on Jan. 25.

The boys team won 48-30 to move its record to 9-6. It was the Lions’ fifth straight win.

Caden Hartzog and Walker Munroe each scored 14 points, with the Lions also getting solid efforts from Mason Masciocchi and Joele Smith. Masciocchi had six points, seven rebounds and three steals, while Smith had five points, five rebounds and four steals.

The Lions, who played Westwood Christian this past Monday, will host First Assembly Christian on Tuesday, Jan. 28, at 6 p.m. Hope then travels to play Valdosta, Georgia’s Open Bible Christian on Thursday, Jan. 30, at 7:30 p.m. and Keystone Heights High School on Friday, Jan. 31, at 7:30 p.m.

On Thursday, Feb. 6, the Lions host Hart 2 Hart Academy at 6 p.m.

Hope picked up its second win of the girls season (and second straight) by defeating Gainesville Christian Community 31-17. Addyson Wilson had 15 points and six steals.

The Lions also got six points each from Aubriana Clark and Autumn Hunt and two points each from Alyssa Hunt and Natalie Lowe.

Hope plays prior to each of the boys games versus Open Bible and Keystone at 6 p.m.
