Lots to see in UC this holiday season

Although the pandemic is still with us – now including variants as well as the original COVID virus still hanging around – the Christmas season is looking a little brighter this year than it did last, with a number of holiday events scheduled for a boost of seasonal spirit and fun.

The Town of Raiford led the pack last Saturday with its annual Breakfast with Santa at the town community center.  Coming up, over the next two weekends, events in Worthington Springs and Lake Butler offer a little seasonal entertainment.

On Saturday, Dec. 11, 2021 the Lake Butler VFW Post 10082 will hold its annual, members-only, Christmas party, beginning at 6 p.m.  For everyone else, Worthington Springs will hold its annual Christmas in the Park later the same day, beginning at 7 p.m.  The event will feature a holiday theme, with local vendors on hand selling a variety of items that would make perfect stocking stuffers, last minute gift ideas and some unusual items that would please those difficult-to-buy-for people that everyone has on their lists.

The following weekend, on Sat. Dec. 18 the City of Lake Butler will host its annual Christmas parade.  The parade route will run down the center of Main St. as it has in the past, with plenty of sidewalk space for onlookers to stand and wait for candy to be thrown from the floats.  Santa will be on hand, as will a number of his elves.

This year’s parade theme is “Christmas at the Lake,” a more open theme than in previous years.  It should be interesting to see what creative floats this theme inspires.

The parade is set to begin at 6 p.m. and is scheduled to last approximately two hours.

No other upcoming holiday events have been turned in to the Times as of yet, but there is still time to get your event listed in the paper!  To get word to us about what you are doing for the season, please call(904-964-6305 or email your information to [email protected].
