STARKE— Bradford deputies arrested a 71-year-old Starke man after they said he struck his neighbor in the head, neck and back with an ax.
Alton James Boles was arrested on Friday, Feb. 25 for aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
The victim, a resident of Northwest State Road 16 near County Road 229A, told deputies that while he was gardening, Boles walked onto his property holding an ax.
After the victim demanded that Boles get off his land, the defendant struck the victim with the ax on the head, neck and back.
The victim told deputies that he and Boles often engage in disputes about the location of the property line between their two parcels.
The victim said he wrestled the weapon away from Boles. Fire rescue transported the victim to UF Shands in Gainesville under a trauma alert.
