Lake Butler’s Zoey Marshall earned a medal and All-American status with her performance in the 400m dash at the AAU Junior Olympics, which were held July 26-Aug. 2 in Houston.
Marshall, who competes as a member of Supreme Performance Athletics, placed fifth in the 12-year-old girls division with a time of 58.12 seconds, putting her ahead of fellow Floridian Rubi Colimon, who had a sixth-place time of 58.90.
Pennsylvania’s Grace Butcher won the race with a time of 56.71. Placing second through fourth were Heaven Isokpunwu of Texas (57.21), Tyler Parker of Louisiana (57.62) and Bailey James of Michigan (57.75).
Leading up to the event, Marshall ran first-place times of 59.02 at the AAU Region 9 Qualifier and 57.85 at the AAU National Club Championship.
Marshall also ran the 200m at the AAU Junior Olympics, crossing the line in 14th place with a time of 26.24.
