McFarland earns all-conference honors at Dakota State

Hannah McFarland, a 2022 Bradford High School graduate, earned North Star Athletic Association All-Conference softball honors during her freshman season at Dakota State University.

McFarland played in all 49 games for the Madison, South Dakota, school, batting .338, which ranked her sixth on her team. She hit two triples and eight doubles, driving in 25 runs and scoring the second-most runs on the team with 45. Her on-base percentage of .418 was fourth best on the team.

Defensively, McFarland played in the outfield. She recorded 111 put-outs and had a fielding percentage of .943 — second-best on the team.

One of McFarland’s best games occurred in a 16-12 win over Presentation on April 8. She went 4 for 4 with two RBI and three runs scored. It was one of two games in which McFarland had four hits. She went 4 for 6 with three doubles, three RBI and four runs in a 27-20 win over Viterbo on April 16.

McFarland had four other games in which she had at least two RBI: a 16-7 win over Waldorf on March 24 (4 for 5 with a double, two RBI and three runs), a 9-5 loss to Waldorf on March 24 (2 for 4 with a double and two RBI), a 16-10 win over Viterbo on April 16 (two RBI, two runs) and an 18-16 loss to Bellevue on April 27 (three RBI, run).

In all, McFarland had multiple hits in 14 games.
