Promised Land Family Ministries, a volunteer-led nonprofit youth ministry dedicated to educating youth and their families about God through agriculture, held its Faith and Family Ag Festival on April 22.
This is the second year for the free event. The festival showcased eight different educational agriculture stations, with participants rotated around to see each station. The stations were: Agriculture in the Bible (led by Matthew Green and Blake Kendrick), bees (led by Sharon Mullins), gardening (led by UF/IFAS Extension Agent Erin Harlow and Annette Mehl), Florida Fish & Wildlife (led by FWC biological scientist Cade Chaney), beef cattle (led by Allison & Lane Hartley), pigs (led by Clayton Lyons from CK2 Showpigs), horses (led by Graham Cattle), and tractor safety & demonstration (led by Cody Barfield from Ag-Pro in Lake City).
More than 200 participants attended, playing games and enjoying smoothies in addition to seeing the stations. Lunch followed and more than $1,200 in prizes were given away.
Sponsors included Florida Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Program, Tri County Metals, Clubhouse Athletics, Ag-Pro, Florida Cattlemen’s Foundation and North Florida Equipment Rentals.
Organizers with the ministry are grateful for the support of their partners and the community and excited for the future. For updates on events planned later this year, follow them at www.facebook.com/promisedlandfm and www.PromisedLandFM.org.
