The top competitors gathered for the 2nd Annual BBQ Brawl, showcasing who had the best BBQ, all for a great cause: raising funds for Mossman Hall.
The event took place on Saturday, April 18th, at Mossman Hall in Melrose.
In addition to the BBQ, the event featured a car show with approximately 80 cars. Attendees enjoyed live music, blacksmithing demonstrations, axe throwing, and a variety of vendors, ensuring there was something for everyone.
This year, approximately 1,000 people attended the event throughout the day. The BBQ competition featured four categories: chicken, ribs, pulled pork, and brisket. There were 9 competitors, and overall, the event raised $6,500 for the preservation of Mossman Hall and Mary Mossman House.
Last year, the event raised $4,069 to preserve Mossman Hall.
“This is one of our biggest events where we raise the most money at one time. We had so much fun,” said Amy Stantley, President at Mossman Home Preservation Foundation. “Big thank you to the greater Melrose community, including all four counties of Alachua, Bradford, Clay, and Putnam, for making this fundraiser a success. Thank you to everyone coming out and all of our sponsors.”
