NCA defeats Corinth 57-28 in boys basketball

The Northside Christian Academy boys basketball team has now won two in a row following a three-game skid, with the latest win coming by a score of 57-28 against visiting Corinth Christian (Jasper) on Dec. 10.

Dustin Brown fell two rebounds shy of recording his fourth double-double of the season. He led the Eagles (5-4) with 19 points and eight rebounds, while Waylen Kahakua had 13 points and six rebounds. Brown and Kahakua each had three assists, with Kahakua also coming up with five steals. Brown had two steals.

Caleb Talton and Hayden Barnes scored eight and six points, respectively, while Wyatt Harden had four. Brian Tassell added three points, while Luke Tassell and Logan Timberlake each had two.

Harden also had eight rebounds.

Northside opened the season with a 51-21 win over visiting Hart 2 Hart (Lake City) on Nov. 8 and a 51-25 win over visiting New Testament Christian (Madison) on Nov. 9. After a 61-40 loss at Open Bible Christian (Valdosta, Georgia) on Nov. 12, the Eagles defeated host Westwood Christian (Live Oak) 60-27 on Nov. 15.

The Eagles then dropped three straight. They lost 65-36 to visiting Southside Christian (Waycross, Georgia) on Nov. 19, 55-41 to visiting Riverside Christian (Trenton) on Nov. 30 and 62-48 to visiting Faith Christian (Yulee) on Dec. 3.

Northside’s current two-game winning streak began with a 52-32 victory over visiting Westwood Christian on Dec. 6.

Brown had 19 points, 14 rebounds and four steals, while Kahakua had 10 points, four assists and five steals.

Caden Talton and Harden scored eight and seven points, respectively, with Talton grabbing nine rebounds and Harden coming up with five steals.

Barnes scored four points, while Timberlake and Noah Liston each had two. Liston also had five rebounds.
