Trenton Noble scored three goals as the Keystone Heights High School boys soccer team defeated visiting Oak Hall 6-1 on Nov. 6.
Allowing only one goal was notable as freshman Mayson Youngblood stepped in to take the place of starting goalie Elijah Ortiz, who dislocated a finger during warmups.
Noble scored his team’s first goal on a penalty kick in the ninth minute.
Kipton Spence found the net from approximately 30 yards out to put the Indians up 2-0 in the 23rd minute. Oak Hall had yet to attempt its first shot on goal, which would finally occur in the 27th minute.
Tucker Price’s penalty kick in the final minute was stopped by the Oak Hall goalie, but Price was able to corral the rebound and put it in the net, sending the Indians into the break with a 3-0 lead.
Noah Jaramillo and Noble put shots in the net in the 48th and 49th minutes, respectively, before the Eagles scored their lone goal off a penalty kick in the 51st minute.
Noble got his hat trick with a goal in the 66th minute.
The Indians’ Josef Ferdinand recorded two assists, while Brayden Bell had one.
Keystone’s junior high team played prior to the varsity match, getting four goals from Jovani Maldonado in a 6-3 win over Oak Hall.
Niko Jaramillo and Ben Tillman each scored a goal, with Jaramillo recording two assists and Tillman recording three.
Justin Perez had an assist as well in what was the team’s first match of the season.
Keystone’s varsity team opened the regular season with a 4-2 win at Orange Park on Nov. 4. Jaramillo, Noble, Luke Buchanan and A.J. Nilsen each had a goal. Sammy Wacha recorded two assists, while Landon Spence had one.
On Nov. 5, the Indians lost 4-2 to visiting Newberry. Nilsen and Spence each had one goal, while Noble and Wacha each had one assist.
Keystone played Columbia this past Monday and will host Crescent City on Wednesday, Nov. 12, at 7:20 p.m.. The Indians will travel to play Fernandina Beach on Friday, Nov. 14, at 7:20 p.m.
On Tuesday, Nov. 18, Keystone plays at Middleburg at 7:20 p.m.
The junior varsity team will host P.K. Yonge on Monday, Nov. 17, at 5 p.m. and play prior to the varsity match at Middleburg at 5:30 p.m.
