Eddie Baker
In loving memory of Charles Edward “Eddie” Baker, Aug. 31, 1954 – April 21, 2025. ‘The song is ended, but the melody lingers on.” – Irving Berlin. Charles Edward “Eddie” Baker passed away peacefully on Monday, April 21, 2025, at the age of 70 following an extended illness. Though his body grew weary, his spirit remained unshaken- resilient, gentle and full of grace. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Jessie (Jay) Edward Baker and Bessie Fay (Rice) Baker; his cherished sisters, Kathryn, Edna and May; and nephew, Shawn Baker.
While his passing leaves a space no one else can fill, his memory lives on in the hearts of those he leaves behind: his longtime and devoted girlfriend of 15 years, Betty Rhoden; children, Christopher (Victoria) Gilliland, Kelly Holder, Michael (Mary) Watmough; grandchildren, Krystal Rhoden, Matthew Watmough, Christal Gilliland, Wannis Gilliland and Rebekah Gilliland; brothers, Tommy, Jay and Ronnie; sister, Julia; nephews, Jay (Shona) Baker Jr., Thomas (Sarah) Baker, and Edwin Baker; nieces, Ann Bowe Hepburn and, Edna Lee Coleman; and too many other nieces and nephews to mention. All of whom shared in a bond that time, distance or loss could never break. “Perhaps they are not stars in the sky, but rather openings where our loved ones shine down to let us know they are at peace.” – Inuit Proverb.
Rest easy, Eddie. Your journey here may be complete, but your story lives on in all those who loved you.
