LAKE BUTLER—VFW Post 10082 held its annual Patriots Day luncheon on Monday, Sept. 11, providing lunch to any first responders and others in the community who are on hand during emergencies.

Union County Sheriff’s Office deputies and the sheriff himself were joined by fire and EMS staff, city and county road, solid waste, public works employees, and RMC outside grounds crew members.

Forty-one lunches were served, which included fried chicken, potato salad, baked beans, dinner rolls, and desserts.  The event provided both eat-in and carry-out meals.

Serving meals were Art Rix, Eric Carroll, Post Commander Willie Wright, Bobby Reeves, “Pops” Brandt, Barbara Fischer, Margaret Reeves, Rebekka Elixson and Annie Pittman.

The luncheon was to thank and honor people who make their living being where they are needed when they are needed. It has been an annual event for the Post for several years, just one of their community service and outreach efforts throughout the year.
