The Suwannee River Water Management District has issued an environmental resource permit for a drainage system at the site of a Wawa convenience store in Starke.
The permit’s application for the 2.49-acre parcel on the northwest corner of Edwards Road and South Walnut Street is for a 6,119-square-foot convenience store with gas sales and accompanying infrastructure. The application also includes a purchase agreement from the parcel’s current owners, Delmas S. and Belinda F. Fridley, to the applicant: GH&G Florida LLC. GH&G has developed other Wawas in Florida.
The plans outline a building on the northwest corner of the property, with a front entrance facing South Walnut Street and gas pumps between the building and the four-lane highway. The plans also call for a wet retention pond behind Discount Auto Parts and stormwater drainage continuing to the CSX railroad that parallels Edwards Road.
