STARKE— A woman whom Bradford deputies said hid a bullet in her bra while attempting to enter Lawtey Correctional Institution could escape prosecution if she adheres to the terms of a pre-trial intervention agreement.

Precious Monique Aikens, 22, of Cross City was arrested by Bradford deputies on Jan. 1 for smuggling contraband into a prison.

According to an arrest report, the defendant was visiting an inmate at the facility when she was subjected to a search by Department of Corrections personnel.

“Precious was asked to shake her bra for any loose items, at which point a 9-millimeter bullet fell out of Precious’s chest area,” wrote reporting officer Wyatt Konkel.

Konkel added that Aikens claimed the bullet was in her bra by accident and asked the DC officer searching her not to report the discovery.

Under the terms of the pre-trial intervention agreement, over three months, Aikens must periodically report to a pre-trial intervention officer, not violate any laws and fulfill other conditions.

“If you comply with these conditions during the period of deferred prosecution, within 90 days of the completion date, the State Attorney shall make the final determination as to whether prosecution shall continue,” the agreement reads.
