Prison after 3 thefts in 9 months

STARKE— A Hampton woman was sentenced to two years in prison after her third conviction for theft in less than a year.

Jessica Lee Roberson, 35, pleaded to felony petit theft and two probation violations.

According to court papers, Roberson was first arrested on Sept. 6, 2022, after she stole two tumbler cups valued at $13.99 from a Starke Dunkin’ Donuts. Two months later, she was arrested for stealing fake nails valued at $4.75 from the Hampton Dollar General.

 Roberson later pleaded guilty to the two thefts and was sentenced to probation.

On June 23, a man living on Southeast 21st Avenue told deputies Roberson stole approximately $645 out of his bedroom after asking him if she could use his restroom.

The defendant’s previous theft convictions include a February 2021 offense for shoplifting $94.94 of merchandise from Bealls, a January 2021 theft at a State Road 100 Circle K of sandwiches, boiled peanuts, socks, candy and other items, a January 2019 charge of cashing a check that was stolen from a truck parked at a convenience store and a March 2017 charge of cashing a $70 fraudulent check at a Hampton convenience store.

Roberson’s other convictions include trespassing, introduction of contraband into a corrections facility, battery, possession of drugs, violation of a domestic violence injunction and domestic battery.
