The following individuals were arrested recently by local law enforcement officers in Bradford, Union or Clay (Keystone Heights-area) counties. All defendants are considered innocent until convicted in a court or until pleading guilty or no contest. Information in this report is from law enforcement agencies and court documents, which are public records.
Bradford
Amberly Alan, 32, of Jacksonville, was arrested by Bradford deputies on July 8 for a probation violation.
Cheyenne Khol Barnes, 32, of Florahome, was arrested by Bradford deputies on July 7 for out-of-county warrants.
Chace Jeremy Beville, 40, a Brooker, was arrested by Bradford deputies on July 8 for a probation violation.
Thefts at construction sites
George Thomas Bishop, 60, of Jacksonville, was arrested by Bradford deputies on July 9 for burglary and larceny.
According to an arrest report, Denmark Building LLC reported lumber, window screws, window tape, and caulk valued at $450 stolen from two separate construction sites.
Surveillance cameras at the construction sites captured a Florida automobile tag number, which eventually led investigators to the defendant.
Sledgehammer used to smash into store
Cynthia Mae Brewer, 34, of Starke, Jeremy Christopher Brewer, 31, of Starke, and Nancy Elizabeth Brewer, 44, of Starke, were arrested by Bradford deputies on July 12 for burglary, larceny, and criminal mischief with property damage.
According to an arrest report, deputies responded to a report of a burglary at MRK Food Store, formally known as Edwards Grocery in Theressa, where they found a hole in the back concrete wall of the structure. Surveillance video revealed a car on the property near the time of the break-in that resembled that of Cynthia Brewer, a frequent customer of the store and sister of Nancy Brewer, who lives next door to the grocery.
Nancy Brewer told deputies she heard noises coming from the direction of the store, which sounded like people attempting to break into the structure. She added that she walked around the grocery but claimed to see no one there.
Jeremy Brewer told deputies that he and his sister Cynthia broke into the grocery store using a sledgehammer while sister Nancy acted as a lookout. He added that Nancy took $30 of the stolen cash and some vapes while he and Cynthia split several hundred dollars between themselves.
Surveillance video from inside the store showed two people in hooded camouflage clothing and masks filling bags full of cigarettes and vapes, breaking into a cash register, and prying open a quarter slot machine.
DeAngelo Devon Crawford, 19, of Gainesville, was arrested by Bradford deputies on July 10 for a probation violation.
Victoria Elizabeth Curtis, 19, of Starke, was arrested by Bradford deputies on July 6 for a probation violation.
Gary Stephen Johnson, 63, of Jacksonville, was arrested by Bradford deputies on July 10 for driving with a suspended or revoked license.
Thomas Orville Lantis, 68, of Keystone Heights, was arrested by Bradford deputies on July 6 for DUI.
Jammie Louann Lemire, 45, of Keystone Heights, was arrested by Bradford deputies on July 11 for battery.
Lindy Magee Libert, 39, of Middleburg, was arrested by FHP troopers on July 9 for driving with a suspended or revoked license and attaching a tag not assigned.
Man stabbed in front yard
Anthony Copeland Martin, 61, of Starke, was arrested by Bradford deputies on July 11 for aggravated battery.
According to an arrest report, deputies responded to a stabbing report and found the victim on a front porch with a stab wound to his lower abdomen. According to witnesses, Martin attacked the victim with a knife in the victim’s front yard.
The defendant told deputies that the victim had beaten him one week earlier while Martin was walking down a street.
“Martin stated that he was walking down Oak Street when he was again confronted by (the victim),” wrote a deputy in the report. “Martin stated that (the victim) slapped him, and he feared that (the victim) would batter him again. Martin stated that he then drew his pocketknife and stabbed (the victim) before leaving the scene.”
Michael Beachman Pope, 33, of Starke, was arrested by Bradford deputies on July 11 for driving with a suspended or revoked license.
Swing at woman disputed
Lawrence Jesse Stephens, 45, of Starke, was arrested by Bradford deputies on July 8 for assault.
According to an arrest report, the victim told deputies that she and the defendant had been arguing and that, at one point, Stephens balled his fist and swung at her, missing.
The defendant said that during the argument, he balled his fist and took steps toward the victim but did not swing.
A witness corroborated the defendant’s claims, adding that Stephens was 20 feet away from the victim when the alleged assault occurred.
Clarence Anthony Touchet, 48, of Balstrop, Louisiana, was arrested by Bradford deputies on July 9 for failure to appear.
Union
Found asleep parked in road
Cayden Zachary Blaize Cutford, 20, of Lake Butler, was arrested by Union deputies on July 13 for possession of a controlled substance without a prescription and possession of liquor by a person under 21 years of age.
According to an arrest report, deputies responded to a call in the Worthington Springs area. Witnesses told dispatchers a pickup truck was parked in the middle of the road with the driver’s door open.
On arrival, officers discovered two occupants in the truck asleep: the defendant and Landon Dilas, with Dilas holding a beer in his right hand and Cutford resting a beer on his lap.
Deputy Clyde N. Barringer wrote that he saw a crystal-like substance within a plastic bag and a crystal-like substance on the screen of a cell phone in plain view on the truck’s center console.
The crystal-like substances tested positive for methamphetamine, and both men denied knowledge of the substance in the bag. Cutford admitted the phone was his but denied knowledge of the substance on the phone.
Landon Chase Dilas, 20, of Raiford, was arrested by Union deputies on July 13 for possession of a controlled substance without a prescription and possession of alcohol by a person under 21 years of age.
Vanderick R. Williams, 34, a Department of Corrections inmate, was arrested by Union deputies on July 15 for smuggling contraband into a prison.
Clay
Paul Allen Addison, 54, of Starke, was arrested by Clay deputies on July 6 for DUI with property damage or injury.
