Recent arrests in Bradford, Union and Clay
The following individuals were arrested recently by local law enforcement officers in Bradford, Union or Clay (Keystone Heights-area) counties. All defendants are considered innocent until convicted in a court or until pleading guilty or no contest. Information in this report is from law enforcement agencies and court documents, which are public records.
Bradford
Anthony Outland Altman, 37, of Starke was arrested by Starke police on Feb. 14 for an out-of-county warrant.
Michael David Arthur, 61, of Hawthorne was arrested by Bradford deputies on Feb. 9 for possession of drugs, possession of drug equipment and smuggling contraband into a detention facility.
Boating under the influence
Wesley Nathan Bailey, 36, of Lawtey was arrested by fish and wildlife conservation commission officers on Feb. 7 for boating under the influence.
In an arrest report, reporting officer Brennan Starling wrote that he saw the defendant’s boat near the Sampson Lake boat ramp without the required navigation lights after sunset.
“I made contact with Bailey to address the violation and immediately noticed he had slurred speech,” wrote the officer. “During a boating safety and resource inspection, Bailey had difficulty standing and had a strong odor of alcoholic beverage emitting from his head and neck area.”
Starling added that the boater performed poorly in a series of standardized sobriety tests and refused to provide a breath sample.
The officer also ticketed Bailey for the absence of navigation lights on his boat and for not having the number of required floatation devices on board.
Daniel Dean Batie, 53, of Gainesville was arrested on Feb. 14 for out-of-county warrants.
Kimberly Wyvonne Belcher, 39, of Ft. White was arrested on Feb. 4 for an out-of-county warrant.
Chase Daniel Bennett, 27, was arrested on Feb. 8 for withholding support.
Gary Edward Boyd, 42, of Keystone Heights was arrested by Bradford deputies on Feb. 14 for driving with a suspended or revoked license.
Jamie Lynn Brooks, 40, of Gainesville was arrested by Bradford deputies on Feb. 7 for a probation violation.
April Angel Canipe, 40, of Hawthorne was arrested on Feb. 9 for a probation violation, an out-of-county warrant. and fraud-impersonation.
Anthony Kyan Carlo, 28, of Keystone Heights was arrested by Bradford deputies on Feb. 14 for a probation violation.
Cayla Nichole Carter, 32, of Starke was arrested on Feb. 13 for vehicle theft, aggravated assault and false imprisonment.
Michael Robert Chandler, 32, of Lawtey was arrested on Feb. 14 for an out-of-county warrant.
Pamela Diane Church, 49, of Macclenny was arrested by Starke police on Feb. 13 for an out-of-county warrant.
Pulled gun during discussion
Clayton Otto Clark, 58, of Starke was arrested by Bradford deputies on Feb. 4 for aggravated assault.
According to an arrest report, the victim told deputies that while he was having a conversation with the defendant, Clark became angry and pulled a 45-caliber gun on him. The victim added that the two struggled over the weapon and the victim was able to take possession of the gun.
Choked victim while in bed
Carol Inez Cline, 58, of Cross City was arrested by Bradford deputies on Feb. 16 for battery and resisting an officer.
According to an arrest report, the victim told deputies that Cline had been attacking him over several days but on Feb. 15 got more physical and choked him while he was in his bed. The victim added that he was unable to breathe and broke free from Cline, escaping to a nearby RV.
When deputies spoke to the defendant, she declared she was not going anywhere and resisted officers’ attempts to put her into a patrol car.
Charles Edward Drew, 44, of Starke was arrested on Feb. 8 for aggravated assault.
Karianne Michelle Gosche, 39, of Lake Butler was arrested by Starke police on Feb. 18 for possession of cocaine and possession of drug equipment.
Paper towel holder and frying pan used as weapons
Cornelius Charles Griffin, 68, of Starke was arrested by Starke police on Feb. 5 for battery.
According to an arrest report, the victim told police Griffin attacked her while she was in bed, choking her and then throwing her to the floor.
“Griffin then struck (the victim) with a paper towel holder and pushed her up against a wall,” wrote arresting officer Michael P. Gillick. “As (the victim) attempted to flee the room, she stated that Griffin struck her in the head with a frying pan.”
Adrian Kyle Haines, 28, of Starke was arrested on Feb. 11 for battery and false imprisonment.
