STARKE— Deputies arrested two Bradford County women who witnesses said stole food from a Hampton Dollar General and asked patrons of a Brooker Circle K for money the following day.

Nicole Lynn Baker, 42, of Hampton and Priscilla Lynn Curtis, 33, of Starke were arrested on July 31 for petit theft.

According to an arrest report, a Dollar General clerk told officers the pair walked into the retailer, took candy and drinks off store shelves, and began consuming the food without paying.

“(The clerk) stated that one female tried walking out with a whole basket of merchandise but dropped it at the entrance of the store,” wrote reporting officer Paul Moody Jr. “(The clerk) stated that she tried to stop them, but they fled the scene. The two females were later identified as Nicole Baker and Priscilla Curtis.”

Moody added that officers searched the store’s surrounding area but could not find the women.

The deputy added that he responded to a report of suspicious activity at the Brooker Circle K the following day.

“Upon my arrival, I made contact with Priscilla Curtis and Nicole Baker. The complainant stated that they were asking for money and have been at the store since 4 p.m. today,” Moody reported. “The two suspects were arrested due to shoplifting yesterday at (the) Hampton Dollar General.
