A Starke woman is being held at the Bradford County Jail on a charge of second-degree murder after a man she lived with was fatally shot at their Meadows Drive home early Monday, according to a Bradford County Sheriff’s Office arrest report.
Stephanie Michelle Johnson, 42, was arrested at the residence at 11:44 a.m. Monday. The report lists the shooting as occurring between 5 and 5:30 a.m. that day and flags the case as domestic violence. Johnson is being held without bond.
The man killed was identified in the report as David James Wroblewski, 41, who lived at the same address.
According to an arrest report, Johnson told a detective the two had been arguing. She was standing on her side of the bed and Wroblewski was sitting upright on the opposite side when she walked around the foot of the bed, took a firearm from a nightstand and returned to her side as the argument continued. She said the firearm belonged to Wroblewski.
Johnson told the detective that Wroblewski then said, “I don’t give a f—, shoot me, shoot me,” and that she pulled the trigger, the report states. She said she did not know how to use a gun and was surprised when it fired.
She said she heard the gunshot and smelled a burning odor afterward, and that her anxiety increased, according to the report. She told the detective she then took a diazepam pill and smoked part of a marijuana joint.
