Rhoman earns best in show in horticulture at Bradford Fair

This year’s horticulture exhibits at the Bradford Agricultural Fair included one best-in-show award, which was received by Celina Rohman for her maidenhair fern.

Rhoman also earned additional best-in-class awards for her rabbit’s foot fern, mixed bromeliads and pine bonsai and additional blue ribbons for variegated and regular Tradescantia zebrina, succulent dish garden and succulent hanging basket.

Ronnie Albright received best-in-class awards for variegated spider plant, spider plant and dish garden. Albright earned additional blue ribbons for curly spider plant, variegated spider plant, spider plants (2), pencil plant and dish gardens (2).

Donna Solze had eight blue-ribbon exhibits, including a best-in-class pink begonia. Her other blue ribbons were awarded for jade, desert rose, kalanchoe crassula, dish garden, snake plant, peace lily and pink salvia.

Miranda Sellers received six blue ribbons, including one for a bunny ear cactus, which earned best in class. The other blue ribbons were awarded for candelabra cactus, sweetheart plant, golden pothos, string-of-pearls and jade.

Sellers received a red ribbon for a Hart’s-tongue fern.

Jeff Buchanan received best in class for mulberry and two additional blue ribbons for roses. He also earned a red ribbon for a rose plant.

Like Buchanan, Beckie Burkett earned three blue ribbons, with her oregano plant receiving best in class. The other blue ribbons were for succulent (mix) and staghorn fern.

Elisabeth Summers received two blue ribbons for a bromeliad and a staghorn fern, with the bromeliad earning best in class.

Emma Griffis earned best in class for quail eggs and an additional blue ribbon for sex-link chicken eggs.

Harley Smith exhibited leghorn chicken eggs, receiving best in class.

The following earned one best-in-class award each: Linda Klein for impatiens and pothos, Terry Oglesby for African violets and Steve Summers for longevity spinach.

Sharon Carter received three blue ribbons for rabbit’s-foot fern, Zanzibar and devil’s backbone and mother-in-law’s tongue. She also earned a red ribbon for a dish garden.

Dottie Yarbrough earned three blue ribbons for bromeliad and geraniums (2).

Easton Griffis received two blue ribbons for quail eggs and Turken chicken eggs, while Julia Zurfluh earned a blue ribbon for Buff Orpington chicken eggs.
