The Keystone Heights Rotary Club celebrated its $9,900 contribution to the Keystone Heights High School football field concession stand on Wednesday, Feb. 21.
The school’s athletic director, Chuck Dickinson, a club member, said he purchased a new food warmer, a double warmer, two 40-pound propane fryers, a stainless-steel refrigerator, and a griddle for the block building near the home stands.
Club member Richard Segall said two-thirds of the donation came from a Rotary Foundation grant for which the local club applied. The remaining $3,300 was raised by the club through a raffle.
Club President Heather Davis said members became aware of the need for the new equipment after volunteering to work in the concession stand during football games.
“Whenever we volunteered here, I was shocked at the amount of money the concession stand generates,” she said, “but there were times we could not keep up with demand because of equipment limitations. We are extremely proud to participate in this exciting grant to provide this desperately needed equipment.”
Segall added that the donation’s impact would reach beyond the school’s football team because the concession stand is used for other high school sports and community events.
