The Keystone Heights Airport board approved a final change order for replacing runway lights along the edge of runway 11/29.
During the panel’s June meeting, Engineer Bill Prange said the project is complete, and the lights are operational.
He added that the project’s request for bids inadvertently prescribed high-intensity lights instead of medium-intensity lights. The contractor who successfully bid on the project offered a bid with high-intensity lights but used medium-intensity lights once the error in the bid request was discovered.
TCA Electric then submitted a change order to the airport, reducing the total cost of the project by $102 for each of the 53 lights installed along the edge of the runway, lowering the cost of the project by $5,406. Other adjustments to the project reduced its costs by an additional $4,295, bringing the final price tag to $640,107.
The engineer added that all that remains on the project is a final payment to the contractor and a final reimbursement from Florida’s Department of Transportation.
