School uses tech to motivate students

KEYSTONE HEIGHTS— Keystone Heights Elementary School is using a new computer application to reward students’ positive behavior. Under the PBIS Rewards program, teachers may award students positive behavior points through a mobile phone or desktop application, eliminating the need for paper tickets and recordkeeping.

“Our students can earn rewards throughout the day by meeting our behavioral expectations,” the school said. “These rewards are in the form of electronic points. They can redeem these points for privileges, tangible items, access to events, and other similar things.”

The school said it expects to see overall behavior improvements throughout the school and that the number of discipline referrals will decrease.
