The boys and girls basketball teams at Keystone Heights and Union County high schools saw their seasons end in their respective district tournaments, though the Union boys team just missed qualifying for the regional playoffs.
Union ended the boys season with a 14-4 record after a 46-43 loss to Trenton in the semifinals of the District 6-Rural tournament on Feb. 5. The two district champs in Region 3 qualified for regional play, while the two highest non-district champs in the Florida High School Athletic Association MaxPreps Region 3-Rural power rankings earned at-large berths. Union was the third-highest ranked non-district champ.
The girls season for the Tigers ended in the quarterfinals of the District 6-Rural tournament with a 59-40 loss to Bell on Feb. 4. Union finished with a 9-16 record.
Keystone lost 69-60 to Palatka in the the quarterfinals of the District 3-3A boys tournament on Feb. 3. The Indians (3-18) were led in scoring by Michael Petty, who had 19 points, Zane Leger, who had 15 points, and Dereon Tochterman, who had 13 points.
Cooper Barry grabbed a team-high 13 rebounds, while Tochterman led the team in steals with three.
Jamari Turner was the assists leader with four.
The quarterfinals of the District 3-3A girls tournament saw Keystone lose 46-35 to Baldwin on Feb. 4. Keystone finished with a 5-18 record.
