LAKE BUTLER— The Union County Sheriff’s Office said it has identified the man who shot an attendee of a June 3 popup party at Lakeside Park, and the defendant is now in the Union County jail.
The agency said Troy Carter Goodman II, 18, of Chiefland fired multiple rounds at the victim, causing injuries to the victim’s abdomen and buttocks. Since the shooting, the victim has undergone two surgeries and remains hospitalized as of press time.
The defendant was arrested for aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
Investigators tracked the Chiefland resident to a Madison County construction site.
Union Sheriff’s Capt. Lyn Williams said good investigative work led to the defendant’s capture.
“We had it narrowed down to four counties, and we just kept at it,” Williams said. “We pulled him off the job site. That’s why he is wearing the reflective vest in the photo.”
Williams said Goodman and the victim argued at a football game, and the dispute carried over to the June 3 shooting. The Capt. said he did not know the date or place of the original argument.
Williams added that more arrests are coming from the gathering of more than 1,000 people, mainly from Alachua County.
