Cody Spratlin was the medalist as the Bradford High School boys golf team earned the win over Branford in an Aug. 29 match that also featured two players from Union County at Lake City’s Quail Heights Country Club.
The Tornadoes (2-1) had a team score of 176, which put them 25 strokes ahead of Branford.
Spratlin made par on two holes and had two birdies in finishing with a score of 39. That put him five strokes ahead of teammate Charlie Zink, who made par on three holes and shot a 44.
Zink was one stroke ahead of third-place finisher Troy Tyler of Branford.
The Tornadoes’ Steven Carter and Avery Burgin placed fourth and fifth, respectively, with scores of 46 and 47. Carter made par on three holes, while Burgin had a birdie and shot par on two holes.
Bradford’s Matthew Stafford shot a 10th-place score of 57.
Union’s Patrick Maxwell and Brysen Tomlinson finished with scores of 65 and 70, respectively.
Bradford hosts Branford and Keystone Heights on Tuesday, Sept. 3, at 3:30 p.m. at the Starke Golf and Country Club. That same day, Union will play First Christian at 3:30 p.m. at Alachua’s Turkey Creek Golf Course.
The Tornadoes and Tigers will play each other again on Thursday, Sept. 5, at Quail Heights at 3:30 p.m. Bradford then hosts Union on Tuesday, Sept. 10, at 3:30 p.m. at the Starke Golf and Country Club.
