Thomas gets win for KHHS boys at March 6 Panther Invite

Ryder Thomas won the 1600m, giving the Keystone Heights High School boys track and field team one of its 14 top-eight finishes at the March 6 Ridgeview Panther Invite.

Thomas crossed the line in 5:02 to take first in the 1600m, while teammate Hunter Sheppard placed eighth with a time of 5:23.

Keystone placed third in both the 4x100m and 4x800m relays. The 4x100m team of Clark Byrnes, Baylor Ford, Jamari Turner and Aaron Wiley had a time of 45.45, while the 4x800m team of Sheppard, Thomas, Eli Rabe and Ryeland Wahl had a time of 9:36.

Ford, Thomas, Wahl and Wiley teamed up to run a fourth-place time of 3:53 in the 4x400m relay.

The Indians also got fourth-place finishes from Ford in the 400m (54.46), Wahl in the 800m (2:19) and Luke Lewis in the javelin (112 feet, 2 inches).

Turner cleared 5-9.75 to place fifth in the high jump, while Ford had a sixth-place distance of 36-4 in the triple jump.

Seventh-place finishes were earned by Turner in the 110m hurdles (19.31), Trase Wooden in the shot put (32-0) and Tyler Kerner in the javelin (89-7).

Wiley placed eighth in the 200m with a time of 24.21.

Though not earning points, the following earned top-10 finishes: Turner with a ninth-place time of 24.37 in the 200m, Ricardo Rosario with a ninth-place distance of 31-7.5 in the shot put, Wooden with a ninth-place distance of 75-7 in the discus, Wiley with a 10th-place time of 11.75 in the 100m and Judah Moses with a 10th-place distance of 31-5.75 in the shot put.

Keystone also had the following results: 100m — Byrnes 11.95, Ford 11.96, Mason Clark 12.68, Wooden 12.75, Moses 12.83, Carter Andrews 14.79, James Carsey 18.30; 200m — Byrnes 24.78, Clark 26.52; 400m — Andrews 1:11; 800m — Oliver Miller 2:44, Mason Gray 2:54, Hunter Gray 2:57; 1600m — Wahl 5:31, Rabe 5:57, Jason Parales 6:02, Mason Gray 6:07, Hunter Gray 6:16, Gavin Morford 6:26, Alexander Mahaffrey 6:35; 110m hurdles — De’Shawn Williams 1:15; 400m hurdles — Williams 1:15; long jump — Byrnes 17-0.5, Moses 16-4.25, Wiley 15-8.75; shot put — Kerner 25-4.75; discus — Carsey 32-3; and javelin — Brayden McCall 71-10.
