Ryleigh Thomas and her brother, Ryder, led the Keystone Heights High School cross-country teams at the Oct. 11 New World Fall Spectacular, which was held at Jacksonville’s Cecil Field Golf Course.
The Division B high-school girls field consisted of 278 runners, with Ryleigh Thomas placing 40th with a time of 20:55. The seventh-grader posted a personal record.
Melody Tyre ran a 60th-place time of 21:34 for the girls team, which also had the following results: Olivia Griffin 23:48, Tessa Gray 26:29, Clara Beth Robinson 26:45, Kirsten Lavin 26:49, Schiley Starling 32:13 and Raina Daniel 32:14.
Ryder Thomas placed 60th out of 362 with a time of 17:38 in the Division B high-school boys race. The Indians got a 133rd-place time of 18:30 from Hunter Sheppard and also had the following results: Hunter Gray 19:22, Ryeland Wahl 19:30, Jason Parales 20:10, Alex Mahaffey 20:50, Gavin Morford 21:06, Mason Gray 21:09, Oliver Miller 23:22 and Eli Rabe 24:10.
Prior to the event, Keystone competed in the Oct. 4 Alligator Lake Invitational in Lake City. Ryder Thomas placed 51st out of 278 with a time of 18:28, while Hunter Gray and Sheppard placed 78th and 101st, respectively, with times of 19:02 and 19:27.
Parales finished with a time of 20:57, while Morford and Wahl had times of 21:42 and 21:55, respectively.
Ryleigh Thomas led the girls team, placing 79th out of 234 with a time of 22:51. Tyre ran an 87th-place time of 23:05.
The Indians also had the following girls results: Griffin 24:52, Gray 26:17, Robinson 28:04, Bailee Morris 29:15, Lavin 29:34, Daniel 32:04 and Starling 34:59.
Mahaffey placed 62nd out of 175 in the junior varsity boys race with a time of 21:53. Rabe had a time of 23:13, while Miller and Mason Gray ran times of 23:48 and 23:58, respectively.
