Thompson helps Bradford defeat Eastside 13-0 in baseball

Ryder Thompson drove in four runs for the Bradford High School baseball team, which defeated visiting Eastside 13-0 in five innings on Feb. 22.

Thompson, who went 3 for 3, hit a bases-loaded triple as part of an eight-run first inning. His other two hits were doubles.

Denver Hudson hit two doubles as well. He and Jeffrey Brugh each went 2 for 3 with one RBI.

Patrick Pendarvis drove in two runs, while Mattox Burgin, Ryland Rike and Blake Wynn each drove in one.

Jerry Baxter started on the mound, giving up one hit and no walks through three innings. He struck out six.

Burgin finished it off, giving up no hits and striking out five in two innings.

Bradford’s home game against Englewood, which was scheduled for Feb. 23, wasn’t played when umpires failed to show up.

The Tornadoes (1-1) travel to play Middleburg on Tuesday, Feb. 27, at 6:30 p.m. and will host Parker on Thursday, Feb. 29, at 6:30 p.m. Bradford then travels to Gainesville to play Eastside on Tuesday, March 5, at 7 p.m.
