Gavin Kuhn tied for second in helping the Union County High School boys golf team defeat host Madison County on Aug. 25 at Madison Country Club.
The Tigers had a team score of 190 — two strokes better than the Cowboys.
Kuhn and Madison’s Trent Rosenberg each had a score of 44, which left them trailing medalist Kadence Eastham of Madison, who shot a 35. Kuhn made par on four holes.
Union golfers took the fourth-seventh-place slots: Hunter Thomassen at 47, Ayden Tomlinson at 48, Zeke Balkin-Gainey at 51 and Jayce Sanders at 52. Tomlinson made par on two holes, while Sanders and Thomassen each made par on one.
Eastyn Miller tied for 10th with a score of 60.
The Tigers entered the match off a third-place finish against Chiefland and West Nassau on Aug. 24 at Lake City’s Quail Heights Country Club.
West Nassau won the match with a score of 178, while Chiefland and the host Tigers had scores of 180 and 183, respectively.
Kuhn and Tomlinson were part of a four-way tie for third, with each making par on two holes and finishing with a score of 42. Kuhn also had two birdies.
Miller and Thomassen placed ninth and 10th, respectively, with scores of 49 and 50.
Emery Muse, who made par on one hole, shot a 51, while Balkin-Gainey had a score of 56.
Sanders and Brysen Tomlinson had scores of 62 and 65, respectively.
