Tigers to host Bell in district tournament’s 1st round

Union County High School’s volleyball team enters the District 6-Rural tournament on a two-match win streak and will host a quarterfinal match against Bell on Monday, Oct. 12, at 6:30 p.m.

Elizabeth Fowler and the Union County Tigers will host Bell in a District 6-Rural quarterfinal match on Monday, Oct. 12, at 6:30 p.m.

The teams just recently played each other, with the Tigers defeating the Bulldogs 3-1 (25-16, 25-19, 17-25, 25-13) on Oct. 1 in Lake Butler.

Union (11-13, 6-1) is the tournament’s third seed, while Bell (10-13, 4-4) is the sixth seed.

If the Tigers defeat Bell, they’ll either travel to play second seed Trenton (14-5, 8-3) or host seventh seed Chiefland (4-17, 2-8) in a semifinal match on Tuesday, Oct. 13, at 6:30 p.m. The winner of that match will play for the championship on Thursday, Oct. 15, at 6:30 p.m. Union would either travel to play top seed Branford (23-2, 10-1) or host fourth seed Bronson (19-6, 5-4), fifth seed Fort White (11-14, 2-7) or eighth seed Dixie County (1-23, 0-9).
