Tigers win Football Weightlifting Conference trophy

Union County celebrates winning the Football Weightlifting Conference championship. The meet, which was hosted by UCHS, was held March 14. Bradford placed second, followed by Bell and Chiefland.

Union County High School had four individuals place first and three place second in winning the team championship at the Football Weightlifting Conference meet on March 14 at UCHS.

The Tigers, with 54 points, topped three schools. Bradford was second with 42 points, followed by Bell with 36 points and Chiefland with 28 points.

Natwon Richardson won the 119-pound class with a 260-pound total (130 bench press, 130 power clean), while Drew Simmons took first in the 139 class with a 400 total (200, 200).

Wyatt Elixson and C.J. Ivey won the 169 and 199 classes, respectively. Elixson had a 465 total (255, 210), while Ivey had a 565 total (300, 265).

Placing second were Jason Buie with a 265 total (105, 160) in the 129 class, Canaan Harris with a 345 total (165, 180) in the 139 class and Phoenix Bryant with a 515 total (245, 270) in the 238 class.

Alec McClellon and Rhett Prevatt placed third and fourth, respectively, in the 154 class. McClellon had a 500 total (175, 225), while Prevatt had a 395 total (185, 210).

Three lifters besides McCellon earned third-place finishes: Jesse Chaikin with a 465 total (230, 235) in the 183 class, A.J. Rivera with a 450 total (225, 225) in the 219 class and Edward Durant with a 460 total (245, 215) in the 238 class.

Union had four place fifth: Wyatt Bradley with a 375 total (185, 190) in the 169 class, Matthew Rogers with a 470 total (235, 235) in the 199 class, Ayden Adkins with a 365 total (200, 165) in the 219 class and Ramsey Schenck with a 405 total (195, 210) in the heavyweight class.
