A 45-year-old Keystone Heights man was sentenced to five years after failing to complete a psychosexual treatment program as a condition of his probation.
Anthony Wayne Terry was first arrested on January 26, 2021, in Starke’s Cherry Street area after Starke police said he tried to lure two girls into his car.
According to a police report, the victims told police they first thought Terry was going to hit them with his car because of how close he stopped the vehicle by the girls.
The victims stated Terry said, “I love you, beautiful girl,” and lunged for one of the females, but the other grabbed her playmate and pulled her away from the defendant.
The arresting officer reported that Terry only spoke of unrelated events when questioned about the incident and had a strong smell of alcohol coming from his person.
Another witness said Terry also tried to grab a boy who was playing basketball in his front yard, but the youngster’s mother confronted the defendant with a hammer as police arrived on the scene.
Police said that during questioning, Terry threatened to shoot officers with their own weapons and had to be restrained while being evaluated at a hospital.
On December 9, 2021, Terry was sentenced to 27 months with the Department of Corrections and five years’ probation with sexual offender conditions.
On November 25, 2025, a probation officer reported that the defendant violated probation by failing to attend and successfully complete a psychosexual treatment program. He was subsequently sentenced to five years on January 7.
